On our YouFirst Campus website, you can book an apartment in one of our residences for students and young professionals in just a few clicks:

As an international student, how can I book accommodation?
The process for booking a YouFirst Campus apartment is the same for everyone. If you do not have a physical guarantor who declares their income in France, you have the option of using a guarantee agency.
What do I need to pay when I book?
When your apartment for students and young professionals booking is approved, you will receive our draft lease to sign. You will then be able to pay your start-up costs, comprising fees and the security deposit. Your first rental payment must be paid before you arrive at the residence for students and young professionals.
How do I pay the start-up costs?
The start-up costs for your apartment for students and young professionals can be paid directly from your personal account on the YouFirst Campus website. There are two methods of payment you can use: credit card or bank transfer.
Acceptance criteria
What are the criteria for acceptance to a YouFirst Campus residence?
Are you a student or a young worker looking for accommodation in a residence for students and young professionals ? If so, you are welcome at our YouFirst Campus accommodation for students and young professionals! Our apartments are for students, young professionals, people on work-study contracts, trainees, doctoral students and researchers only. To book one of our YouFirst Campus residences, you will need to have one or two guarantors who declare their income in France or a guarantee agency.
Will I be asked to make an interim payment to confirm my young professional & student accommodation reservation?
To confirm your accommodation for students and young professionals reservation, all you have to do is sign the lease and pay the start-up costs (fees and security deposit). If you change your mind and want to cancel your booking after you have signed the lease and before it starts, you only have to ask – we will refund the full amount paid on request.
Can someone under the age of 18 rent a YouFirst Campus room?
Are you a student or young professional under the age of 18? If so, of course you would be welcome at our residences.
You will be able to create and manage your account yourself. However, the lease will need to be signed by your legal representative.
Is the accommodation for students only?
No. Our apartments are for students, young professionals, people on work-study contracts and trainees, as well as doctoral students and researchers.

When should I apply for the term starting in September?
The sooner the better! That way, you will be able to book the accommodation for student and young professionals that suits you perfectly.

Can I rent a room for student and young professionals on a short-term lease?
For legal reasons, our leases are for terms of between 9 and 12 months. You are free to leave your accommodation for student and young professionals at any time, subject to a notice period of one month.
Can I visit the residence for student and young professionals before applying?
Of course, you can visit any residence for students and young professionals you want to! The YouFirst Manager of the residence will be pleased to show you our apartments and tell you all about the services on offer.
What is the maximum length of time I can stay in a residence?
For legal reasons, our leases are for terms of between 9 and 12 months. If you would like to stay in your accommodation for students and young professionals for longer, we would be happy to sign a new lease.
I am a young worker, what are my eligibility conditions for a YouFirst Campus residence apartment?
To enjoy an apartment in our student and young workers' residences, you must provide proof of a net income before tax greater than or equal to twice the amount of the rent, including tax and charges.

What documents do I need to book my accommodation for students and young professionals?

Once you have chosen an apartment by clicking the “Book” button, that apartment will be held for you while you complete your application. It would be useful for you to prepare all of your documents in advance so as not to risk losing your accommodation for students and young professionals, as it will only be reserved for a limited period.
Do the application documents need to be in French?
Our residences for students and young professionals are open to international students. You have the option of submitting your application in English or in French.
I don’t yet have a student card or proof of my student status. Could this prevent my booking being approved?
Valid proof of student status is essential to completing your application and submitting your booking request for a student apartment.
While you wait for your valid student card, you can provide us with your current certificate of education or proof of enrolment from the educational establishment you will be attending.
Nevertheless, it is still possible to book an appartment for young professionals.
How do I submit my supporting documents?
Don’t have a YouFirst Campus account yet? Go to the top right of the main menu to create your own YouFirst account. You will then be able to enter your information and upload your documents completely securely.
How long do I have to provide my documents to YouFirst Campus?
Once you have chosen an apartment for students and young professionals by clicking the “Book” button, that apartment will be held for you while you complete your application. A timer will then appear at the top of your YouFirst account, showing you how long your apartment will be held for and the amount of time you have to complete your application.
When do I need to provide the documents about my financial guarantees?
Your financial guarantee (not to be confused with the security deposit) is essential. Without it, the submission of your application cannot be confirmed.
You can use the guarantee simulator on the search results and apartment pages to find out the maximum rent you qualify for, depending on the guarantees you can provide.
As an international student, do I need to provide any specific documents?
International students need to provide a valid passport and proof that they are enrolled on a course in France.
Your application
Once I have submitted my application, how long will I have to wait for a decision?
Your booking request will be processed within 1 business day of submission from your YouFirst Campus account. We will let you know our decision by email and you will then be able to track the progress of your residence for students and young professionals rental application from your personal account.
How do I track my application?
You can track the progress of your application, step-by-step, from your secure personal account. You will also receive emails to keep you updated about milestones in the booking process.
Can I save my application and come back later to finish it?
Absolutely. You can save your information and documents so you can come back and finish them later. However, we recommend that you take the time to carefully prepare and scan your documents in PDF, JPG or PNG format before choosing your apartment for students and young professionals.
How much is the application fee?
The amount payable is fixed by law and depends on the surface area of each residence for student and young professional. On average, they range between €250 and €300 and are payable once only, when you sign your lease.
What happens if I cancel my booking?
If you wish to cancel your reservation after the effective date of your contract, we will charge the Fees, the rent(s) due, and refund the security deposit. We ask you to send us a termination letter while respecting the minimum legal notice period of 1 month.
If you wish to cancel your reservation before the effective date of your contract, we will charge the Fees and refund the security deposit as well as the rent paid for the month.
Can a refund be paid into a foreign bank account?
Yes, as long as your bank provides us with an IBAN in the name of the resident. Non-SEPA refunds may take longer as a result of the relationships banks have with one another.
How long will I need to wait for a decision if my application is unsuccessful?
We process applications within 24 hours on business days. We will let you know our decision by email.
What is the security deposit?
The security deposit is a payment amounting to a maximum of one month’s rent including taxes but excluding expenses. It is intended to cover any non-payment or damage caused by the resident. The amount, payment and refund of the security deposit are governed by law.
When will my security deposit be refunded?
As long as your exit inventory matches your arrival inventory, your security deposit will be refunded within one month of you handing back your keys. If the inventories do not match, the refund will be made within two months.
Garants
Is it mandatory to have a guarantor to rent accommodation in a YouFirst Campus residence?
You must provide a financial guarantee to submit your booking application.
If you do not have a physical guarantor who submits a tax return in France, there are guarantee agencies you can apply to.
Can I combine two guarantors?
Absolutely. If the income of a single guarantor does not amount to 3,5 times the amount of the rent including all tax and expenses, you can combine two guarantors, each with income that is equal to 2,5 times the amount of monthly rent including all tax and expenses.

Who can act as my guarantor?
You have the option of providing one (or two) physical guarantor(s) or a corporate guarantor.
Does the guarantor have to be French?
Your guarantor may be of any nationality, as long as they declare their income in France and are able to provide a tax return issued by the French authorities.
Can the guarantor live abroad?
Yes, your guarantor may live in any country, as long as they declare their income in France and are able to provide a tax return issued by the French authorities.
How can I rent a YouFirst Campus apartment without a guarantor?
If you want to enjoy life in an apartment in one of our residences, you need to provide proof of a financial guarantee.
How does the guarantee provided by our partner GarantMe work?
GarantMe is a guarantee agency that acts as guarantor for French and international occupant renting accommodation. If you choose GarantMe, you must provide an eligibility certificate to complete your application and submit your booking request. GarantMe will issue this document directly from its website within 24 hours.
Is the GarantMe guarantee accepted?
Yes. GarantMe works in partnership with YouFirst Campus.
How does the Visale guarantee work?
If you are under the age of 30 and you want a corporate guarantor, you can apply to Action Logement for a Visale guarantee.
Is the Visale guarantee accepted? If so, what are the criteria?
Yes. The Visale guarantee is only for rent payments of no more than €800 including tax and expenses in Paris and the Paris region and €600 including tax and expenses in the rest of France, provided the amount is between 30% and 50% of your income. You do not need to provide proof of financial resources for rent payments of less than €425 including tax and expenses.
I am an international student – can I apply for the GarantMe or Visale guarantees?
Absolutely. These guarantee agencies act as guarantors for French and international students.
Does the guarantor have to be present when the lease is signed?
A lease for student accommodation is signed by the student only, or their legal representative if the student is under the age of 18. The guarantor signs a guarantee commitment.
In order to make it easier for everyone, YouFirst Campus has opted for fully secure electronic signatures via Yousign. All signatures are therefore given remotely.

What amenities are provided when I arrive in my student room?
Our student apartments are fully furnished.
In the sleeping area: bed, mattress, pillow, blanket, draw sheet and bedside table.
In the study area: desk with storage and ergonomic chair.
In the kitchen area: fridge-freezer, microwave oven, cooking plate, storage units.
One Tableware/kitchenware set per person: dinner plates, dessert plates, glasses, mugs, knives, forks, small and large spoons, a paring knife, a frying pan, a saucepan, a casserole dish, an oven dish, a salad bowl, a can opener, a bottle opener and a colander.
In the shower room: shower, vanity unit, mirror.
Toilet. You will also get a broom, bucket & mop.
Can I bring my own household appliances?
Our student apartments all include a fridge, cooking plates and microwave oven. Electrical outlets are available in addition to the equipment provided.
Your YouFirst Manager will lend you equipment for day-to-day tasks, e.g. vacuum cleaner, iron etc.
Do the student rooms come with household linen?
A blanket and draw sheet (mattress protector) are provides in all student rooms. To help you travel light, we have two household linen packs available for sale:
Is there parking at YouFirst Campus student residences?
Some of our residences have car, motorbike and bike parking available. Please refer to the information sheet for your student residence for details.
Do you have student residences that are accessible to persons with reduced mobility?
Yes. All of our student residences have reduced-mobility-accessible rooms.
Types
Which different student apartments are available?
Our student apartments include studios, one-bedrooms, two rooms, large apartments for individual rental, and large apartments of various sizes for shared rental.
What is a student studio at YouFirst Campus?
Each student studio has a main living room featuring an integrated equipped kitchen area, plus a shower room.
What is a student one-bedroom apartment at YouFirst Campus?
Each student one-bedroom apartment has a main living room, a separate equipped kitchen area and a shower room.
What is a student two-room apartment at YouFirst Campus?
Each student two-room apartment has a private bedroom and a shower room completed with another living area, a separate equipped kitchen area.
What is a large student apartment at YouFirst Campus?
Looking to rent alone and need some space? Our large apartments have a surface area of over 40 sq.m and are only available for individual rental.
Shared apartment
Can I share an apartment with someone of my choice?
Yes, when there are still student rooms available. Please specify your request by providing the person’s contact details in the “specific request” field when submitting your respective booking forms.
Everyday life
How do I receive my post during my stay at the student residence?
Each student apartment has its own post box.
Can I get shopping and packages delivered to my student room?
Yes, as long as you are there to receive them. YouFirst Managers do not manage the receipt of parcels and shopping.
Am I allowed to have friends or family to stay?
Yes. It’s your student residence; you can certainly have guests. We do not allow subletting (renting your student residence to another person), but you may have friends over occasionally.
Can people come and visit me in my apartment?
Your student residence is your home! You are welcome to entertain guests, like friends or family members. They are your responsibility. However, please be mindful not to disturb your neighbours.
Can I smoke in my apartment ?
Your apartment is your home! You can smoke, should you wish. Please note, you are permitted to smoke in your room if you are sharing an apartment. However, you’ll need your flatmate’s agreement should you wish to smoke in the shared space.
Can I smoke in the residence?
Yes, you are allowed to smoke tobacco only in designated outdoor areas, which have ashtrays. It is against the law to smoke in indoor communal areas.

Rent
Expenses
What does my monthly rent include?
Your monthly payment includes the rent and the flat rate for utilities. This flat rate includes your share of the general expenses of the building (including maintenance of common areas) as well as any expenses related to your apartment (water, communal heating etc.).
How much rent will I have to pay if I arrive in the middle of the month?
The rent is payable on a pro rata basis from the start date of your lease. If your lease starts on 10 September, the first monthly rent will only cover the days after that date.
Do I have to pay a local housing tax when I live in a student residence?
During your stay, your apartment in the YouFirst Campus student residence will be considered your main residence. As such, you may be liable to pay a local housing tax.
Is heating included in the flat rate for utilities?
Heating is included in the flat rate for utilities, except at the following student residences: Bordeaux Pellegrin, Lille Euralille, Paris Bagnolet, Pessac Université, Talence Centre and Talence Université.
Is electricity included in the flat rate for utilities?
Electricity is included for shared apartments. For all other types of apartment it is not included, except at the following residences: Paris La Défense, Paris Grande Arche and Marseille La Major.
After signing your lease, we’d suggest that you register with an electricity supplier. Your YouFirst Manager will provide you with the necessary information when you’re ready to do so.
If I’m sharing an apartment, is the rent shown per person or an overall amount?
The price shown is the price per person.
Payment terms and conditions
How do I pay my monthly rent?
You have a dedicated YouFirst Customer Area that you can use to pay your rent by card. To make life easier, we’d suggest that you set up a direct debit.
Can I make a one-off payment for my entire stay?
For legal reasons, the rent is payable monthly. We cannot accept payment in advance.
When do I need to pay my rent?
You have until the fifth of each month to pay your monthly rent.
How do I pay the security deposit and agency fees?
To pay the security deposit and rental marketing fees, you can either use a credit card or make a bank transfer.
What is the security deposit? When and how will I be refunded?
The security deposit is a sum intended to cover any potential damage at the end of the lease. If everything is in order, the full amount is refunded the month after you move out. If repairs are needed, you will receive the remaining balance within two months.
Housing support
Am I able to claim any housing support when living in a YouFirst Campus student residence?
Yes. French and international students in our student residences are eligible to claim housing support.
Can I get housing support even if I’m sharing an apartment?
Absolutely. All monthly rents, from studios to apartment shares, qualify for housing support.
Are there any social housing units available?
Yes, we have social housing units for scholarship students within our Youfirst Campus Paris Lecourbe residence, priced at less than €700.
Moving in
Check-in inventory visit
What happens at the check-in inventory visit?
The check-in inventory visit provides a description of the condition of the rented student residence and its rooms, fixtures and fittings. The inventory visit will take place with your YouFirst Manager before you move in, and then when you move out of the accommodation and hand over the keys.
Before you arrive, we’d suggest that you make an appointment with your YouFirst Manager during your residence’s reception opening hours. Try to plan it in advance so you can arrange a time that suits you. The inventory visit will take between 30 and 45 minutes. After the visit, you will receive a copy of the inventory report by email. Keep it safe, as it has contractual value.
Please also remember to provide your YouFirst Manager with your mandatory insurance certificate no later than the date of the inventory visit. If you don’t, we will not be able to give you the keys to your apartment.
Can somebody other than the student attend the inventory visit?
Yes. If you are unable to attend the inventory visit, you may send a friend or relative in your place. All you need to do is provide them with a proxy authorising them to carry out the inventory visit on your behalf, as well as a copy of your ID.
Moving in
How long after my application is approved can I move in?
You can move into your student apartment approximately one week after your application has been approved; this timeframe may be reduced if you sign your lease and pay the fees promptly.
How do I arrange my arrival at the student residence?
As moving is a stressful experience, we’ve prepared a list of things to do before you arrive. Please read this list very carefully.
Can I move in on a weekend or a public holiday?
Residence arrivals may only take place during the opening hours of the reception offices at our student residences, from Monday to Friday.
Is home insurance mandatory to move into a student residence?
Yes. You must provide a home insurance certificate no later than the date of your inventory visit.

Communal areas
Do the student residences have opening and closing hours?
You can access your student residence at any time of the day or night. Your YouFirst Manager (available during reception office opening hours) will be able to let you know the opening hours of the residential communal areas, lounge area, fitness area etc.
Where can I find the residence code of conduct?
The code of conduct will be sent to you along with your lease, and you can also find it in your Customer Area.
Can I organise an event in the residence?
If you’d like to organise an event in the lounge room, please contact your YouFirst Manager.

Do the residences have a concierge service?
No. All of our student residences are run by YouFirst Managers who will make sure you’re comfortable and safe, and will be there to help throughout your entire stay.
